Skye Reinforcement Project preliminary work, 1 - 15 February 2026

Vessel activity is planned as part of the Skye Reinforcement project. A landing craft will be departing from the Kyle of Lochalsh slipway and landing on the beach o the south shore of Loch Alsh close west of the entrance to Kyle Rhea to offload plant. The activities are planned to be completed within one day between the 1st February 2026 and 15th February 2026.

Vessels are requested to pass at a safe speed and distance, and fishing vessels are advised to remain a safe distance from the areas identified. During these works the vessel will have restricted manoeuvrability as it completes its work scope. VHF CH 16 will be monitored at all times and will be used to contact the coastguard in the event of an emergency.

This activity will facilitate enabling works and ground investigation work in the Kyle Rhea area for the Skye Reinforcement project to replace cables across Kyle Rhea. This work will involve closing Kyle Rhea to all vessels at times during summer 2026.
