Boreholes off Arnish, Lewis and in Little Loch Broom, Ross and Cromarty, January 2026

From 10th December 2025 the Fugro vessel “Aran 250” has paused activities around the Nearshore Geotechnical Boreholes  Campaign conducted from the jack up barge (JUB). The works have been conducted on behalf of Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks Transmission (SSENT).

The JUB will be alongside in Arnish until 1st January, 2026, when one more borehole will be drilled before moving to Dundonnel.  A 200m exclusion zone will be enforced around the JUB at all times when works resume on 1 January. Vessels are to take caution when navigating in this area and pass well clear of the JUB. Programmed works will commence at Arnish from 1st January 2026.
