Visitor Moorings on Scotland's west coast

Moorings for visiting vessels are available in a number of locations. Many are listed in Welcome Anchorages and pilot books.

You should not use private moorings without permission. They may not be in a safe condition or strong enough for your vessel; the resident craft may return at any time. Even if permission is given, you use any mooring at your own risk.

A large (16 metres, 10 tonnes) visiting yacht recently attempted to make use of a private mooring near Oban intended for a 10 metre, 6 tonne vessel. There wasn't enough room for it!
